Description: ATS is an information technologies consulting company providing services to Fortune 500 companies nationwide. ATS specializes in providing full-service staffing solutions by providing technical and business personnel through staff supplementation and project engagements. The company has extensive contacts within its Fortune 500 client base and is able to access a large pool of talented and responsive professionals with proven records of accomplishment in both the technical and business fields.
We are currently seeking a BUILD ENGINEER who works with development teams to build all components of a software product, including maintaining batch files and tools, to keep up with changes in the product. Also:
* Sets up initial build trees, performs, debugs and fixes builds, and promotes official drops including those for Expresso and help builds.
* May also be responsible for managing the SQL Server build process and function as a hotfix engineer.
* Works closely with the members of the build team and proactively identifies and implements procedures to parallelize and streamline the build process.
* May drive the development and maintenance of build automation tools.
* May be responsible for managing the build and release schedules with shared components (ODBC, OLE DB) and identifying and driving the resolution of build and runtime errors.
The experimentation platform must be rock solid since it will be used to test features on live systems. It is designed to provide graceful degradation capabilities and auto-abort when the systems calling the platform are not performing well i.e., the live systems calling our platform could have been tested under less stringent QA standards than normal production code. However, that puts high responsibility on the experimentation platform to detect any failure and revert back to the control (stable) system.
As a Build Engineer on this team you will work with the product team to create automation infrastructure to run various levels of Continuous Build Tests (CBT) including creating and maintaining scripts to keep up with the changes in the product and test requirements.
YOU WILL ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
* Installing and upgrading our product on test environments
* Monitoring the CBT results and working with other testers on the team to get test issues resolved to improve product quality.
* Maintain the Experimentation Platform Test Lab
* Monitor server health using MOM and other tools and applying patches as necessary from time to time
* Ensure maximum uptime for the test machines by debugging hardware/network issues
* File tickets and get Operations help as necessary
THERE WILL BE ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO CONTRIBUTE AS INTEREST AND SKILLS PERMIT, INCLUDING TASKS LIKE:
* creating web sites to run tests and report on test results
* researching and testing additional tools to help maintain both the test and production environments
REQUIREMENTS
* Experience with scripting (perl/windows/powershell)
* Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
* At least 1 year work experience related to build automation
* Understanding of .NET technologies, SQL, WebServices
ADDITIONAL VALUABLE EXPERIENCE
* Prior experience with Microsoft tools is a plus
* Experience in CoreXT build system/BuildTracker
* Experience with SourceDepot source control system
* Experience maintaining lab machines (including MOM)
* Database experience (SQL Server 2005)
