Description: SHIFT (MONDAY-FRIDAY: 8am-5pm)
• Develop and install cost effective, operationally supportable solutions that meet complex customer requirements and SLAs.
• Provide clear technical documentation and written ISO9001 procedures to ensure other members of Central Operations can assist in monitoring, troubleshooting and changing complex customer environments.
• Provide direct operational support of SunGard’s largest managed services customers, maintaining ownership and end of the road support for complex environments. The Complex Services Senior Engineer will be responsible for direct customer communication, working closely with all other Central Operations technical teams, and maintain deep technical knowledge of multiple technologies within a customer’s environment. This may include network, security, systems administration and storage management services.
• Build and maintain relationships with key customer’s technical staff members and with internal stakeholders from sales, customer service and field operations.
• Provide technical assistance to all SunGard internal/external customers during network outages.
• Have a familiarity with client base and the network resources being utilized by all SunGard internal/external customers. Use this information to assist in resolving network issues or trouble shooting network outages or impairments.
• Provide assistance/training to other engineers.
• Assist in the development of reportable operational metrics within the Complex Services Delivery team.
• Perform weekly and monthly network maintenance activity when required
Position Responsibilities

• Provide implementation of complex solutions for Sungard customers.
• Develop and install cost effective, operationally supportable solutions that meet complex customer requirements and SLAs.
• Provide clear technical documentation and written ISO9001 procedures to ensure other members of Central Operations can assist in monitoring, troubleshooting and changing complex customer environments.
• Attend training courses, perform self-study, metrics.
• Learn automated Sungard resource functions and terminology.
• Learn Sungard alert management platforms, functions, and terminology.
• Learn related SunGard product offerings.
• Learn related SunGard clients & their services.
• Study the Livelink Library Help Desk procedures.
• Become proficient in the SunGard storage architecture.
• Provide assistance/training to other engineers.
• Assist in the development of reportable operational metrics within the Complex Services Delivery team.
• College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of Systems management and administration with an in-depth understanding of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Solaris, Unix/Linux – Certification(s) a plus. Scripting/system programming a plus.
• Must have a minimum 3 years TSM server and client engineering-level implementation, configuration and troubleshooting experience.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of diverse storage environment experience – Experience with EMC Clariion, McData, Netbackup & Brocade a plus.
• Must have detailed knowledge of RAID, SCSI, SAN, and NAS.
• Must know basic IP security structures regarding disk and tape storage.
• Extensive knowledge of data communication concepts and technologies is required.
• Strong customer service and communications skills (written and oral) are required.
• Strong storage problem isolation and resolutions skills required.
• Must have the ability to lead and direct vendors to assist them in their efforts.
• Strong interpersonal skills are a requirement.
• Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies.
• Excellent communications skills (written and oral) are required.
• Strong time management and organizational skill are required.
• Must have the ability to effectively work in a team environment, as well as independently.
